Joining our engineering team, you’ll undergo a formal Level 6 apprenticeship in civil engineering through workplace learning. You’ll study for a degree in civil engineering by day release at London South Bank University.

You’ll be part of an industry leading asset engineering team that help Thames Water achieve its asset management planning (AMP7) ambitions to 2025 and beyond. You’ll learn on the job and with targeted training courses, with direction and support from senior engineering personnel.

You’ll get hands on experience four days a week and spend one day a week at university, gaining the theoretical background to your degree.

You will be looking at relevant data and how we use it to make significant changes to our processes. As a GIS data analyst you will acquire the following expertise and be trained on:

• How to structure, organise and present geographical data
• Survey data necessary for use in modelling such as flow, water quality and sampling data
• Using GIS to investigate performance issues as well as investigating future data. This insight will be used to present compelling cases for investment and/or evidence the root cause issues to be addressed etc
• Insight into using GIS to evidence needs for system planning and help with providing evidence of business investment cases
• Investigating outline strategies / plans in collaboration with system planners and strategists necessary to support investment plans / cases.

As a digital engineer you’ll acquire the following expertise and be trained on:

• Wastewater systems (foul, combined and surface water and how they work)
• How we treat our wastewater and put back into the environment
• Drainage systems and the servicing of our communities
• Sewer control structures (overflows, weirs, orifices, siphons).

Joining our transport and logistic teams, you’ll work as part of the logistic management centre (LMC) which operates a new fleet of state-of-the art tankers with jetting capability, potable water tankers, and inventory delivery vehicles to support both reactive and planned work.

It’s essential you have a passion for this role and the drive and motivation to manage your learning and working life. You’ll need to be focused, well organised, have excellent time management skills and the determination to succeed.  You’ll have great team working skills but also once qualified be able to work independently, putting customers at the heart of everything you do.

You’ll be a champion for health and safety in the workplace, helping us maintain our great reputation. You’ll be working alongside an experienced driver technician for the duration of your programme. You’ll receive ongoing support from your mentor, line manager and training provider to complete your class 2 qualification.

You’ll be helping to fault find and find ways to fix the electrical issues we have on our sites. You’ll be working on electrical equipment which monitors and controls all aspects of Thames Water’s water and wastewater processes, and how they’re performing across the network. During the apprenticeship, you’ll become qualified to carry out planned preventative and general maintenance of equipment, modifying and rewiring, testing, and inspecting, condition-based monitoring and fault finding within our systems.

You’ll be part of a team responsible for building and upgrading infrastructure. Working alongside senior environmental professionals, you’ll support large projects from beginning to end.

You’ll gain the expertise needed to:

• Help identify the environmental risks associated with capital projects
• Suggest appropriate next steps to manage those risks
• Highlight opportunities for biodiversity enhancement
• Deliver projects sustainably and consider low carbon delivery methods
• Work with environmental regulators to make sure they’re satisfied with our activities
• Identify opportunities to make improvements
• Collaborate with environmental colleagues for a joined up and consistent approach
• Carry out site visits with senior colleagues to ensure compliance
• Provide environmental technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle

As part of our mechanical team, you’ll work alongside senior engineers to help us achieve our ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond. You’ll learn on the job as well as studying at university, and you’ll receive feedback throughout the programme to help you develop your skills and experience further.

You’ll undergo a formal higher apprenticeship programme, including completing a degree. You’ll apply the theory back in the workplace where you’ll be involved in a range of projects, large and small from design to deployment.

As an instrumentation automation and control (ICA) apprentice you’ll be helping to control all the instruments and systems we have on our sites.

During the apprenticeship you’ll become qualified to carry out planned preventative and general maintenance of equipment, modifying and rewiring, testing, and inspecting, condition-based monitoring and fault finding within our systems. You’ll also be fully trained to use programmable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems to make modifications to our processes to ensure that our sites perform at their very best.

You’ll be part of a fantastic scientific team, using the latest technology in the field of analytical chemistry. Throughout the programme, you’ll receive feedback on how you’re doing, and you’ll be able to use this to further develop your skills and experience.

You’ll take care of some of the most important water quality tests in the world, get hands-on experience with sample prep and analysis, and use the latest technology in the field of analytical chemistry. To support your learning, you’ll undergo a formal higher apprenticeship programme, including completing a degree. So, the apprenticeship is perfect for people who have finished their A-Levels and are keen on a route to degree-level training but want to get some work experience on the way.

This is a hands-on role, so you’ll probably have a knack for taking things apart and fixing them! Our technology and equipment are huge, and this apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to learn and develop your skills and knowledge on some exciting and important projects.

You’ll be placed on a structured programme gaining the knowledge and skills to be able to join one of our dedicated operational teams at the heart of the business. Project controls is a key profession in the exciting world of delivering construction projects. It helps organisations to make sure they’re doing the right projects and doing them right. Project controllers are a crucial part of a project team, identifying problems and making sure that projects are running to plan.

You’ll undergo a formal Level 6 apprenticeship in project management through workplace learning that will equip you to lead multi-million-pound essential infrastructure projects. You’ll work towards becoming a project manager at the end of the programme, where we’ll continue to grow and develop you into our next generation of leaders.

You’ll be working with experienced project managers to develop your understanding and application of the Thames Water five-stage process for planning and delivering projects on time and within budget. You’ll maintain and monitor progress and performance and lead analysis to identify and proactively address issues and opportunities to do even better.

Working alongside highly experienced chartered quantity surveyors, you’ll receive a strong grounding in all the technical competencies required to progress through a career as a quantity surveyor.

You’ll undergo a formal higher apprenticeship programme, including completing a degree and working towards MRICS status. You’ll apply the theory back in the workplace where you’ll assist in a broad range of activities both in the office and out in the field.
