Advice and support

“What makes a winning application?”

A top tip is to spend some time learning about the company and what we do, our purpose and especially our values. These are: take care; take ownership; be passionate about everything we do; be respectful and value everyone; reach higher, be better; be proud, be blue. Read through the job requirements and desirable skills and, if you don’t meet all the criteria, you should still apply - you can highlight any transferable skills or experience you have. And we’re always keen to hear about your passion for what we do and an enthusiasm for learning, so make sure you get these across in your application.

“What can I expect in an online assessment?”

Depending on the role you’re applying for, we might ask you to do an online assessment. These usually take about 15-20 minutes and are based around the job, so there might be questions around scenarios or activities to help us understand how you might respond to different situations, such as customer situations. And, if the role you’re applying for needs specific technical knowledge or skills, the assessment will explore those, too.

“I’ve been invited to an assessment centre. What happens here?”

These assessments usually take place on site and last around two to three hours over a morning or afternoon, with breaks in between. We’ll show you a presentation to help you learn more about the team and job opportunity you’ve applied for. We’ll also find out more about how you work as a team, how you communicate and how you might respond in different situations, so you can expect to take part in some scenario-based activities and role play.

“I’ve accepted a job offer! What happens now?”

Congratulations! We’re looking forward to welcoming you aboard. You’ll need to complete our pre-employment screening before you start which will include a check on your right to work in the UK and references. Depending on what role you’re going into we may need to complete some additional checks, including criminal record and DBS, global sanctions, any essential qualifications and memberships and DVLA. All this can take a while so if you can get your documents ready beforehand, it’ll really help. The sooner we can get this stage done, the sooner you can join us!
